A full list of Dragon's Dogma 2 bosses with spawn locations, elemental weaknesses, and practical tactics for drakes, griffins and endgame threats.
Dragon's Dogma 2 Bosses: Locations and Weaknesses
Dragon's Dogma 2 bosses are beaten by placement, not by level. Hit the Cyclops in the eye, burn the Griffin's wings, burst the Drake's exposed heart with ice, and shoot the glowing seals on a Golem, whose stone body ignores everything else. Vermund holds the field fights, Battahl adds brutal variants, and Norgan brings the Fallen Dragon.
- Weak spot first, element second, topple third.
- Most field bosses come back after you rest, so farming routes repeat. Capcom publishes no weakness table, so every entry here is the community version.

How Weak Spots and Elements Work in Dragon's Dogma 2
Two systems multiply each other. Weak spots are body parts with their own damage multiplier: chip a Cyclops on the hide and nothing happens, hit the eye and it loses sight and health at once. Elements layer on top, and the four you can enchant with are fire, ice, lightning and holy. Matching one to a target raises damage and usually applies a debilitation, whether that is burning fur or a frozen frame. Both feed stagger, and stagger ends in a topple.
Capcom has never published a weakness or spawn table for Dragon's Dogma 2 or Dark Arisen. Every weak spot, element and location below is the widely repeated community version, tested by players and subject to change with Title Updates.
Official source: Dragon's Dogma 2 Official Web Manual is Capcom's own reference for the combat and pawn systems this page builds on, and the official Dragon's Dogma 2 site carries the current title line, including the Title Updates page.
Boss Weakness Table: Every Major Fight at a Glance
Weak spot is where damage multiplies, element is what to enchant or cast, and counter is the shortest route to a kill.
| Boss | Weak spot | Element or status | Counter | Where it spawns |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Cyclops | Eye | Lightning staggers, fire burns | Hit the eye, then the legs, then push it over | Checkpoint Rest Town roads; east of the Gathering of Beasts |
| Chimera | Goat head (magick), lion head (physical), snake tail | No single answer | Cut the tail, silence the goat, topple the lion | Waterfall Cave, Mountain Ruins, the river toward Medusa |
| Griffin | Wings, then head | Fire | Burn the wings to ground it, then work the head | Ox roads around Vernworth; a nest near the Misty Marsh |
| Drake | Chest heart | Ice | Open the chest, burst the heart before it retracts | Ancient Battleground, Dragonsbreath Tower |
| The Dragon | Heart | Ice | Same heart rule; hide from the meteor volley | Endgame story fight |
| Golem | Glowing seals | Explosive damage | Shoot the medals; nothing else lands | Rocky uplands, including ruins east of Sacred Arbor |
| Ogre | Head and back | Fire or lightning; reports differ | Burn or freeze it, then stay behind the swing arc | Western Vermund, plus a stronger Battahl variant |
| Minotaur | Head | Fire | Bait the charge into a wall, then topple and burn | West of Bakbattahl past Jarle's Home |
| Medusa | Head | No confirmed element | Fight from cover at range | Nera'Battahl Windrift; later the Caliginous Depths |
| Wight | Nothing part-specific | Holy | Ground it at range, then pour on holy | Graveyards around Checkpoint Rest Town at night |
| Dullahan | The severed head it carries | Holy | Headshots with holy enchants | Night fog near the Waterfall Cave |
| Talos | Glowing plates on body and ankle | Ranged or climbing melee | Break the plates as it walks | Event boss on the Volcanic Island |
| Fallen Dragon | Not documented | Not documented | Attrition fight in the snowfields | Norgan, in the Dark Arisen expansion |
Two honest gaps: Medusa's elemental profile and the Fallen Dragon's weak-point table. Any page printing exact numbers for either is guessing.
Where to Find Bosses in Vermund
Vermund carries most of the pre-Battahl roster, and its spawn points sit near roads you already travel. The Cyclops is the first big fight most players meet: one is scripted east of the Gathering of Beasts during In Dragon's Wake, and others pace the road out of Checkpoint Rest Town and the northern edge of the map. Griffins hunt ox carts around Vernworth, with one reported nesting near the Misty Marsh. Chimeras prefer cover: Waterfall Cave, the Mountain Ruins near Sacred Arbor, and the river bed on the road toward Medusa.
Drakes are the exception worth planning around, and the Ancient Battleground north of Vernworth is the spot players return to most. Schedules are not exact, and reports conflict on individual spawns: some say that Drake returns after every rest, others list it as one-time. Rest twice and check before building a route around it, and drop a Portcrystal so the walk back is short, as covered in the Portcrystal locations guide.
Drakes, Dragonsbreath Tower and the Endgame Dragon
The drake family is where the game stops teaching and starts testing. A Drake fights like a Cyclops with spells bolted on: claw sweeps, a tail whip that launches you, a dive bomb, fire breath, and magick that calls lightning, eruptions and meteors. Every cast is telegraphed with an area marker, so the fight rewards reading the ground early rather than fast reflexes.
The heart is the whole fight. Damage the chest until the heart pushes out, then unload ice before it retracts; hitting the exposed heart roughly doubles your output and often topples the Drake outright. The story's Dragon runs the same design at a larger scale, with a meteor volley you survive by breaking line of sight. Drakes and dragons are also the only source of Wyrmslife Crystals, the material the late-story blade chain wants, and the Lost Rites dungeons guide covers that farming loop.
Contact with drakes and dragons is one of the ways Dragonsplague spreads. An infected pawn shows glowing eyes, and resting at an inn with it infected can empty a town overnight. Read the Dragonsplague guide before drake hunting becomes a routine.
Battahl Bosses: Ogres, Minotaurs, Rattlers and Medusa
Battahl raises the floor. The Minotaur charges in a straight line three or four times, so bait the run into a wall, topple it while it is dazed, and burn it. Rattlers cover their backs in stone and resist most damage until they are rolled onto their backs, where the soft underbelly takes the hit. Ogres are mostly a western Vermund problem, with a stronger variant on the Battahl canyon roads, and this is the one entry where community advice splits: some writeups call fire the answer because the fur burns, others insist lightning is the real weakness and that ice freezes it in place. Freezing it and punishing the head is the route everyone agrees on.
Medusa is a different kind of fight. She petrifies, so community writeups favour ranged damage from cover, and the head is the reward. Talos is a set piece rather than a duel: it rises from the sea, walks a fixed route across the Volcanic Island and smashes platforms on the way, so the fight is about breaking the glowing plates on its body and ankle before it carries you out of position.
Night Bosses: Wights, Dullahans, Skeletons and Phantoms
After dark the map swaps its roster, and all four of these punish physical-only builds. Wights float out of melee range and chain spells, including a tornado that builds if the wind gathers, so knock them down at range and finish with holy. Dullahans carry their own severed head, which is the weak point; their grab drains health, so holy enchantments on every weapon shorten a long attrition fight. Skeletons take holy damage and daylight, but one left with its head intact gets back up, so finish the head. Phantoms are close to immune to physical attacks and drift through walls, leaving holy magic as the only clean answer. Since a Dullahan announces itself with fog and Wights are tied to graveyards, night routes need a light source and a rested party more than better gear.
Norgan and Dark Arisen: The Fallen Dragon
The expansion adds one fight this page cannot document properly yet. Official expansion materials describe the Fallen Dragon as a second heartless, undying corpse of a dragon that has stirred in Norgan, the abandoned northern region known as the Forsaken Dominion, with Capcom recommending level 40 before you travel there. The enemy roster escalates from ice-field monsters early to a darker set deeper in.
Official source: Dragon's Dogma 2: Dark Arisen official site is Capcom's own page for the expansion, its Norgan setting and its stated level guidance.
No weak-point table for the Fallen Dragon exists as of launch, so nothing here pretends to have one. Launch-window writeups describe a long fight rather than an elemental trick, and the early undead dragon encounter in the snowfields is tied to a tactic rather than a weak spot; the beginner tips checklist covers the prep that fight assumes. What pays off first is Relic gear and the 12 Lost Rites trials, since both feed the gear check the north assumes; see the relic appraisal guide and the Norgan region guide.
The other endgame boss content sits in the Unmoored World, where red beacons mark Purgeners and the Bakbattahl beacon is a quest trigger rather than a fight; the Unmoored World guide has the order and the day count. Gear decides how much of the table above you can use, because a party without an enchanter cannot exploit half of it.
FAQ
How do I kill a Cyclops quickly? Hit the eye, not the hide. Ranged shots or a climb to the face cut its damage output, then attack the legs until it stumbles and push it over.
Why does my damage do nothing to a Golem? Its body is effectively immune. Only the glowing seals take damage, and explosive attacks do the most to them.
Is the Griffin weak to fire? Yes. Burning the wings grounds it, which removes the dive bomb and turns the fight into topple-and-burst on the head.
Where do I farm a Drake for Wyrmslife Crystals? The Ancient Battleground north of Vernworth and Dragonsbreath Tower. Crystals only drop from drakes and dragons, and late game a Drake can land at the North Vernworth oxcart station.
Do bosses respawn in Dragon's Dogma 2? Most do after you rest. A handful of encounters are tied to quests and never come back, and community reports disagree on a few individual spawns.
What is the Fallen Dragon weak to? Nothing documented. Capcom has published no weak-point or element table for it, so bring healing rather than a single counter element.
